Sleep paralysis
It feels like, the person wakes up at night and cannot move, and frightening hallucinations and a feeling that there is someone else in the room. In antiquity, this state was associated with mischief of evil spirits. This state happens normally when we fall asleep, we are paralyzed so that we don’t sleepwalk and such. With paralysis, our muscles “turns off” when the brain is awake. About 7% of the population have experience sleep paralysis at least once, they say this is more likely when sleeping on the back.
Hypnagogic hallucinations
This is how it feels, when a person is on the verge of sleeping but still awake, he sees weird pictures before his yes. They are often scary faces and fantastic creatures. This happens because it one of a few type of hallucination that mentally healthy people may have. Children have them often, which could be the reason they don’t want to sleep. Such hallucinations maybe due to stress or simply imaginations. They can also appear when you are drunk.

Many people reported having experienced this phenomenon. Esotericism believed that if you have such dream, this indicated your predisposition to spiritual practices. Science can’t explain why this happens.
Sleepwalking
This state is the opposite of sleep paralysis, the consciousness is asleep, but the muscle paralysis does not occur. In their sleep people walk, clean or leave the house, which is very dangerous because they don’t remember in the morning. Somnambulism occurs in about 4.6-10.3% of the population, the children are affected most, the cause is still unknown and there are no treatment methods.

e). Nocturnal sleep-related eating disorder (NSRED).
Also known as sleep eating, this is a type of sleepwalking that’s closely tied to a person’s conscious wants and desires for food.
It’s considered to be both a sleep disorder and an eating disorder because the person is fulfilling a desire they suppress while they’re awake. Like with sleepwalking, the person doesn’t realize they’re eating and they can’t remember any of it the next day.
f. Night terror.
The difference between a night terror and a nightmare is that a night terror involves specific actions. Night terrors involve screaming, panic, sleep walking and thrashing around on the bed.
Like most sleep disorders, it’s believed to be congenital. However, no one understands why it happens other than the fact that it gets inherited and it’s mostly children who experience it.
g). Exploding head syndrome.
This painless syndrome involves a person hearing an explosive noise before they fall asleep. It can sometimes feel like an explosion is taking place inside the person’s head.
It’s considered a type of sleep disorder and an unusual type of hallucination that happens to people who are in between being asleep and awake. The causes are unknown.
h). An out-of-body experience (OBE).
While this isn’t a sleep disorder, it’s still interesting to note. An OBE involves the feeling of “floating” or “observing” one’s body from the outside.
Out-of-body experiences are unrelated to sleep disorders. Researchers classify it as a dissociative experience with psychological and neurological causes. It has nothing to do with the “spirit” leaving the body, and it’s most likely due to a temporary brain malfunction (Hines, 2003).
